Gifted young musicians head for Sage

FIVE of the most gifted young musicians in the world are to take to the stage together in a North East concert.

The team of top talents will all be performing in a concerto at The Sage Gateshead this month.

Filmed live for Channel 4, the concert will feature the talents of the youngsters alongside the venue’s own orchestra, Northern Sinfonia.

The Sage performance programme director Simon Clugston said: “These are exceptionally young kids who are unbelievably talented.

“The thing with music is that it is one of those things that doesn’t respect age – you can be absolutely brilliant at the age of five or 85.

“What people coming to the concert will see is a phenomenon – some absolutely wonderful play from children and young people who are much younger than you would expect.”
