Wife accuses Portuguese cops of death cover up

Widow told of attacks

THREE other tourists were attacked in the same week David Morley died, his widow claims.

Marie Morley says she has evidence that, on at least three other occasions that week, British tourists were attacked, subjected to violence and robbed in and around the same area.

The first was in the Old Village on June 21-22, the second and third was late evening or early morning on the night of June 24-25. David was attacked on June 26.

The incidents were alleged to have been carried out by a man and boys who had bicycles.

She said: “I have uncovered reports of similar muggings by gangs targeting tourists in Vilamoura at the same time. Victims have told me how they were attacked in the same area, but no one has been brought to justice.

“One of the ladies attacked at 2am has told me one of the youths on a bicycle told her he would kill her if he had to, took her bag and kicked her in the face, knocking her teeth out. Another man was strangled until he was unconscious. That was the day before David was attacked, but the police wouldn’t even take a description from him.

“They knew what was going on but are trying to hide it. There were reports of gangs targeting people as early as April, but the police have basically sat back and done absolutely nothing.”
