A LITTLE cancer victim’s dreams are set to come true.
Ella Morran, who suffers from acute lymphocytic leukaemia, has longed to meet Mickey Mouse, Goofy and all the rest of her cartoon heroes, as she battles the rare form of blood cancer.
And the plucky five-year-old’s wishes have come true after friends rallied round to help her achieve her dream, and the whole family will jet to the US this spring.
Ella’s plight touched the hearts of young and old in the close-knit community of Waldridge, County Durham, who raised hundreds of pounds to send Ella and her family Florida with a specialist nurse.
Mum Hayley, 41, said: “Ella is so excited . . . she has already planned her itinerary of things she wants to do and will be having breakfast with Peter Pan and dinner with Winnie the Pooh.”
Residents in the village clubbed together to raise money through a series of events.
Teenagers Fae Penny, 15, and Paige Henaghan, 14, took part in a sponsored fun run across nearby Waldridge Fell, and community leader Brenda Wright organised an auction and race night in the community centre.
Meanwhile, the Cestria Primary School pupil has come off all medicines for three months to see how her immune system copes and she is finally able to start playing outside with her friends.
