Boy's life put at risk by fly-tippers

THOUGHTLESS fly-tippers dumped a pile of rubble outside a family’s home blocking the entrance and endangering the life of their disabled son.

Liam Barker, 15 , suffers a life-threatening genetic disability that has left his muscles chronically undeveloped, leaving him in need of 24-hour care.

Because his lungs do not function correctly, he is on permanent life support and his condition can deteriorate rapidly making every minute vital when seeking medical help.

So when Liam’s parents Phil and Michelle saw the only road leading to their home piled up with rubble they were shocked and angry.

Phil, 49, of Cornfield Road, Middlesbrough, said: “I had been outside just 10 minutes earlier and there was nothing there.

“Then my wife looked out of the window, and at first we thought a neighbour had taken an old fence down and placed it there to be moved.

“I went out to ask them just to move it aside so we could have access in case something happened to Liam.

“But when I got out there I realised there was loads of rubble hidden underneath wooden pallets.

“We were very concerned by this because if Liam took ill we would have no way of getting him out of the drive.
