Fight star Ross rattles cage

FEARSOME cage fighter Ross Pearson says his bid to win TV’s Ultimate Fighter title is all down to a thing called love.

If he wins, Ross, 24, will join the world’s top Ultimate Fighting Championship fighters in the fastest growing and toughest sport of mixed martial arts.

Ross, who lives in Sunderland with girlfriend Jenny Gibson, 21, said: “Getting picked for the show was awesome, but I couldn’t have done this without Jenny, my mum Sheena and dad Ray.

“They have supported me since I started fighting, and Jenny looks after me. I wouldn’t have got this far without her great support. She is my rock.”

Ross has been training in martial arts since the age of six when he joined a taekwondo class. He then did judo before moving into boxing as a teenager. He turned professional two years ago and has a 9-3 record.

The Ultimate Fighter programme, which is now into its ninth season on Virgin 1 television on Sunday evenings, has been a huge success.

This season saw a team of 16 from the United States matched against their British counterparts to see which nation has the Ultimate Fighter.
