Win, lose or bust!

“People should be given information not inducements when considering cosmetic surgery.”

Richard Milner, a consultant plastic surgeon at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary, said giving such prizes risked bypassing vital consultation.

Dr Milner, a member the BAPRAS council, said: “This approach circumvents the normal process.”

But the owner of the Newcastle and Sunderland-based clinic, Dr Ashish Dutta, insisted that clients will have a full consultation before going under the knife . . . and if the surgery is inappropriate it will not go ahead.

Dr Dutta said: “Cosmetic procedures should never be considered as quick fix solutions and it is of course essential to combine any treatment with education and support.

“There’s no pressure on anyone to do anything they don’t want to.”

Mark Spincer, executive director at Newcastle Racecourse, said: “We are delighted to have the Aesthetic Beauty Centre as our main sponsor for what will be a fantastic Ladies meeting.”
