Loved-up pair forced apart on special day

THE noise of their steamy lovemaking has got them into hot water and now they have been ordered by a court to stay apart tomorrow night... their silver wedding anniversary.

Steve and Caroline Cartwright

Their loud two-hour sex sessions were driving neighbours bonkers and Caroline Cartwright spent three weeks in Low Newton Prison after allegedly breaching an Asbo three times in just 10 days with her moans and groans.

The accusations of morning wails, whines and bed-banging against the wall caused magistrates to lock her behind bars after she broke the four-year ban that prevented her from making excessive noise anywhere in England and Wales.

She was slammed in the same jail as notorious female convicts, while she claims her only crime was having an active sex life.

But today she’s back on the outside in a bail hostel while she awaits trial, and has been told that she can’t return home to Hall Road, Washington, to be with her husband.

“This is ridiculous,” said Caroline. “I feel I am being made a scapegoat. Burglars and thieves are walking free and I was locked up in a jail with hardened criminals.

“They all treated me well and they all wanted to hear my story, but they all agreed that prison wasn’t a place for me and I shouldn’t have been there.”

Caroline added: “Steve and I have been together since 1982 and married for 25 years on May 25. We had talked about renewing our vows. We were going to go to Las Vegas but Steve lost his job in November last year so money became tight.

“We were going to go away for a night or have a party with friends, do something special because 25 years in any marriage is a milestone. However, because of our situation we will be going for a walk with the dog and saying goodnight to each other before going our separate ways to sleep.

“I cannot go anywhere near my own home and Steve cannot stay at my bail address. Our silver wedding anniversary is one of the most important nights of our lives but we will have to separate and sleep alone.”

Caroline, 48, has elected to be tried by a jury at Newcastle Crown Court after pleading not guilty to allegedly breaching her Asbo.
