Missing chef Claudia's family united for TV appeal

Posters go on display

POSTERS of Claudia Lawrence will go on display at railway stations and on trains in a bid to jog commuters’ memories.

Large posters of the 35-year-old chef are to be put up at Darlington, County Durham, and at York, Doncaster and Wakefield Westgate stations, while Grand Central Railways has also agreed to put leaflets appealing for her safe return on all its trains.

Friends and family of Miss Lawrence, who has not been seen since March, hope to remind people who may have information or sightings of her.

Martin Dales, friend and spokesman of Miss Lawrence’s father Peter, said: “It is to be hoped that the travelling public will search their memories over the last 10 weeks and any information they have should be given to the police.” Miss Lawrence was last seen near her home on Heworth Road, York, on March 18 and failed to arrive for a 6am shift at work at the University of York’s Goodricke College the following day.

North Yorkshire Police have now classified their investigation as one of suspected murder, but repeated appeals for information have so far drawn a blank.

The case will be featured on BBC1’s Crimewatch programme on Tuesday at 9pm.
