ULTIMATE fighter Ross Pearson lived up to his nickname – The Real Deal – when he defeated US rival Ritchie Whitson . . . and is now tipped to become the sport’s lightweight champ.
And with the final on June 20 now in his sights, the Sunderland-born battler spoke about his success.
Ross said: “I thought the Ritchie fight was exciting but a little scrappy.
“After the fight I was really happy with the way things turned out as I didn’t have any injuries. I’m now looking forward to more hard training and the next challenge.”
Ross lives in Sunderland with his girlfriend Jenny and mum and dad and trains out of Sensei Peter Steel’s Sunderland Jujitsu and MMA Academy.
He said: “I’m proud to represent the North East and of course Sunderland.
“I want to be able to help demonstrate that our region has great talent and hopefully this will help other North East fighters to push themselves and in turn fly the flag for the region.”
