Wife's tribute to victim of stabbing

THE DEVASTATED wife of a man found stabbed to death in a North town has paid tribute to her “fantastic” husband.

Callum Henderson, 41, was found lying unconscious, with serious injuries, amid shattered glass and smashed cars outside a house in picturesque Glamis Hill, Berwick, in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Police and paramedics had been called to the scene in the early hours of yesterday morning but the father-of-two, from near Berwick, Northumberland, was pronounced dead.

Last night, as officers launched a murder investigation and four people were helping police with their inquiries, a post mortem revealed he died as a result of a stab wound.

His grief-stricken wife Sarah-Jane Henderson told how she was struggling to come to terms with his death.

She said: “It has only just happened so I really can’t say much about it, but he was a fantastic bloke.

“Everyone loved him.

“We would have been married 19 years this Christmas Eve.

“I’ve got my family around me and everyone is devastated, without a doubt.”

It is not known what sparked the incident which led to Mr Henderson’s death, but as police were piecing together his final moments, neighbours told how a loud commotion erupted outside the large, detached house where he was found by police.

It is believed a man had turned up and used a plank of wood to smash cars and windows while the occupier was inside the house.

As shocked neighbours woke up to see their quiet, rural street swarming with police and forensic officers, one resident said: “I was woken up at about 2am by a noise that sounded like someone banging metal.

“When I looked out, there was a guy going mental in the driveway of the house over the road. He was shouting, screaming in fact, and kicking the two parked cars.
