Police make new appeal in search

POLICE have renewed an appeal for information about a man who has been missing for more than a month.

Peter McNay, 52, was first reported missing to Whitehaven Police, in Cumbria, on May 5 and it is suspected he may now be sleeping rough.

Police want to make sure Peter, who speaks with a soft Scottish accent, is safe and well because he needs regular medication for a health condition and he has not been seen for six weeks.

A spokesman for Cumbria Police said: “His belongings were handed into Workington train station on May 19 and he would seem to have no means of supporting himself. This obviously gives police cause for concern regarding his welfare.”

He is described as white, of average height and of slim build with grey hair and possibly a beard. He may be wearing light blue trousers and a beige or light brown jacket and a hat.

An appeal was issued last week in a bid to track down Mr McNay and a few sightings were reported.

The latest report was that he may have been spotted on the A66 near Penrith, walking towards Appleby during the Horse Fair.

Police believe he could be anywhere in the UK but there is a possibility he may have travelled to Glasgow as he is thought to have relatives in that area.

If anyone knows of his whereabouts, or has seen anyone matching his description, please contact Whitehaven police officers at Cumbria Constabulary on 0845-330 0247 or any police officer.
