“Every single performer aspires to Michael Jackson,” she said. “He was absolutely fantastic.
“I just burst into tears this morning as I was listening to his songs.”
She added: “No one saw this coming, especially after he signed up for the London tour dates.
“I was really excited about going to see him.”
The 24-year-old, who shot to fame as a Pop Idol finalist, said she would wear her Thriller T-shirt in tribute to the star, who died of a heart attack on Thursday evening.
Thriller Live, still running at London’s Lyric theatre, went ahead as planned on Friday evening.
“It is the best way to pay tribute to his career,” Zoe said.
“The cast were really upset, but were determined to give their performances that extra 120 per cent.”
The show’s executive director, Adrian Grant, said: “Words cannot express my deep sense of loss and sadness . . . I am shocked beyond belief.
“I will continue to support and promote his legacy via this musical celebration.”
The lights outside the theatre were dimmed in tribute, and a minute's silence was also held for the star.
