Rusty the dog signed to top model agency

But he almost didn’t become a model dog.

The handsome pooch had been destined for a life in the police but failed his training.

Rebecca, a student, said: “My dad is a dog handler and Rusty was supposed to be a drugs dog but he failed his training and my grandma took him in.

“The police were testing his ball skills and they threw a ball into an empty house.

“When they went in to find if Rusty had discovered the ball they found him lying on his back fast asleep. They decided that police work wasn’t his forte.”

Rusty is now destined for bigger things and Rebecca is hoping her pet will be picked for advertising and modelling work in the North East.

A spokeswoman for Boho Model Agency said: “ Boho had an enquiry from the award-winning film company Dene Films who were shooting a national TV campaign for Carpet Right.

“They were looking for a dog with obedience training and we realised that there was a gap in the market. He is the first animal to go on our books.”
