TO his thousands of listeners he’s the daytime DJ that brightens up their lunchtime.
But the Sunday Sun can today reveal a dark incident that has taken place in the private life of Metro Radio’s Mark Thorburn.
Police were called to the presenter’s idyllic Northumberland home last week after a late-night row with a woman turned violent.
The 41-year-old was arrested and has accepted a caution for common assault.
The woman, who the Sunday Sun understands to be Thorburn’s wife, did not need hospital treatment.
Today the Thorburns, who live in a picturesque converted barn in the village of Haydon Bridge, are on holiday together.
The Sunday Sun confronted Mark as he loaded his suitcase into a car, driven by his wife, outside their home, yesterday.
But the DJ, who presents Metro’s lunchtime weekday show, refused to comment on his arrest.
When asked if he wanted to say anything he said: “Not at all. I’m about to go on holiday.”
But a spokeswoman for Northumbria Police confirmed: “At 11.50pm on Wednesday, police received a report of an assault on a woman at an address in Haydon Bridge, Northumberland.
“The woman did not require hospital treatment.
“A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of common assault and has accepted a caution.”
