Demolished Wynyard Park dream home will be rebuilt

Demolition in progress of a newly £1m built house at Wynyard Woods on the exclusive Wynyard estate near Billingham

IT WAS the £1m mansion torn down before the paint was barely dry.

Painstakingly built, the designer dream home was reduced to a pile of rubble in just one week when structural failings made the property unsafe.

And now the Sunday Sun can reveal that the devastated owners will rebuild a replica dream home on exactly the same spot, determined to make sure that it stays up a little longer this time around.

In a letter, seen by the Sunday Sun, architect David Johnson asked for permission from Hartlepool Council to rebuild the doomed designer home, built in plush Wynyard Park, near Billingham, by Mark and Karen Bell.

London-based Mr Johnson said: “The applicant has been required to demolish their dwelling due to structural failure of the property.

“They are living in rented accommodation with the intention of building a new dwelling on the site and moving back into the address.

“When compared with the original site plan, it can be seen that the new design seeks only to make slight alterations to the plan form of the dwelling.”

Officials at Hartlepool Council have also confirmed that an identical house will now be built on the site where the original property once stood. A spokesperson said: “We received a planning application for a replacement detached house at this site.
