FORMER sex slave Sara Lee subjected a nurse to a deadly Hepatitis C scare.
Drug addict Lee was having emergency treatment for an overdose when she became aggressive and abusive and spat in the nurse’s mouth.
It sparked a terrifying chain of events because both Lee and the nurse knew she had been diagnosed with Hepatitis C.
And for months the nurse had to undergo screening and live with the threat she had become infected.
Lee was jailed for 38 days by Gateshead magistrates after admitting common assault.
But the 33-year-old, from Duke Walk, Teams, Gateshead, walked free from court because she has already spent 27 days in custody on remand at Low Newton Prison waiting for the case to be heard.
She was, though, ordered to pay the victim £250 from an estimated £500 royalties she is expecting this month for her book, Slave Girl.
The book, written by her under the name Sarah Forsyth, tells the tale of how a new start in Amsterdam as a nursery nurse aged 19 turned into a nightmare within minutes of walking off the plane when she was forced at gunpoint to work as a prostitute.
Sexually abused from the age of three, she planned to rebuild her life and applied for a job in a creche in Amsterdam.
But her life fell apart when her passport was taken and she was forced to work in the red-light district while fed a supply of cocaine and cannabis.
After a year working in the sleazy den, Newcastle-born Sara found the strength to fight back and escape. Fourteen years later, still hooked on drugs, Lee was being helped with her addiction at the centre in Regent Terrace, Gateshead.
In January, Lee, who had an appointment for her methadone prescription at 4.30pm turned up at 2pm but was turned away.
When she returned at 4pm the nurse became concerned she was showing symptoms of overdosing. She called the in-house doctor and paramedics were also alerted.
