SHOP shelves have been cleared of these voodoo dolls over fears they would encourage children to be violent.
The toys, which come with a sharp pin to be stabbed into the doll, were on open sale when Theresa Cave, who heads up Mothers Against Violence, spotted them in shop windows.
Horrified, Theresa went into the stores and asked the managers to remove them from sale.
Theresa, whose son Chris was stabbed to death in 2003, said: “It was like saying to kids that if you don’t like some one then its OK to stab them.
“One type of these dolls even had the names of the internal organs on them where you can stab with the pin.
“But I’m over the moon that both these stores have decided to remove these off their shelves and that they have listened to our concerns.
“This shows they are taking this issue seriously and have the interests of the community at heart.”
Westgate Department store and the ex-Catalogue shop, both Redcar, were selling the dolls when Theresa raised her concerns.
