THESE loving sisters will soon share a bond no one can break.
Patricia Wills will make the ultimate sacrifice when she goes under the knife to donate a kidney to her big sister Alice Emerson.
The 58-year-old did not hesitate to put herself forward as a live donor when she found out 62-year-old Alice’s kidney was failing.
And in the ultimate act of sisterly love the pair are now planning to go into the operating theatre together for the swap op, which will give Alice a new lease of life.
Alice, who runs a hotel in Otterburn, Northumberland, said she was overwhelmed when her sister offered to give her a kidney.
“I just felt really humble and proud,” she said. “I have got nothing but love and respect for all my family for volunteering. It really is the ultimate sacrifice. I feel so loved.”
Grandmother-of-eight, Alice discovered her kidney was failing about four years ago.
Doctors told her she would either need a transplant or spend the rest of her life on dialysis.
All her family offered to help and were tested to see if their kidneys would be a suitable match for Alice.
But it was mum-of-three, Patricia, of Billingham, Teesside, whose organs were the best match.
