A SINGLE mum is toasting success after signing a five-book publishing deal for a six-figure sum.
Claire Connor, 32, who lives with her parents and six-year-old daughter Sophie, could also be heading to Hollywood with her debut novel Rose: Note to Self, after film producers expressed interest in the book.
The chick-lit book is the first of five in the Lipstick Confessions series, modern day romances set in glamorous locations.
She said: “I’d always wanted to be an author ever since I fell in love with Enid Blyton’s novels as a child.
“For the past few years I’ve been juggling two jobs and bringing up my daughter while writing in my spare time, so to sign a five-book publishing deal is a dream come true.”
The mega book deal came after Claire went to work as a PA for bestselling children’s writer Graham Taylor, also of Scarborough, a former vicar who made headlines himself when his first book, Shadowmancer was published.
Claire, a devout Catholic, plucked up the courage to show some of her short stories to the author – better known as GP Taylor – which he loved.
The pair then came up with the plotline for Rosie: Note to Self as well as a series of ideas for follow-up books before writing it together.
