Viz man's charity gift for brother

COMIC king Simon Donald is drawing on his talent to help a hospice which cared for his brother in the last stages of his life.

The former editor of the legendary Viz comic is currently going down a storm all over the UK with his stand-up act, in which he brings to life characters similar to those he created for the popular comedy organ.

This time last year, however, he put his career on hold to look after his eldest brother Steve, who was battling cancer.

Simon, who moved from Newcastle to London over the summer, became Steve’s carer, but he tragically lost his battle with cancer last November.

Now, Simon has decided to give something back to St Oswald’s Hospice in Newcastle, which helped his brother in his final hours, by donating a brand new cartoon of his famous character Sid The Sexist.

And the drawing – which shows Sid shouting “t*** oot for charity” – will be one of the star offers up for grabs at a special charity night this week.

Welbeck Design Consultancy from Ashington, Northumberland, has organised the South American-themed night at the Marriot Gosforth Park Hotel on Friday.

The night will feature a celebrity auction, fire eaters, Latin American music, a cabaret and a three-course meal.
