Wedding is a family affair

ANNE Brown married her son-in-law yesterday.

But there was not a whiff of scandal about the ceremony . . . because she also married her daughter!

Anne, from Durham City, a registrar for 21 years, fulfilled a long-standing promise to daughter Sarah, 26, a faculty secretary at Durham University, to conduct the service when she got married.

And when Sarah pledged to love and honour Paul Baxter, 37, her mum was right there by her side.

Anne said she felt “quite emotional” conducting the ceremony in front of friends and family on her daughter’s big day at Seaham Hall Hotel in County Durham.

Anne, 58, who works in Bishop Auckland, said: “I have always said I’d like to marry her if she got married in the area and they were happy for me to do it.

“They’ve only had since Easter to plan everything.
