“It was very emotional for us all, but I hope I was professional.
“Our friends and family think it’s a really nice thing to do. I’m delighted to be able to do this for them.”
Yesterday wasn’t the first time Anne has made a wedding a family affair.
Five years ago she married her sister, Denise, to Ken Fisher and she hopes to one day marry granddaughter Jenna if she’s still a registrar then.
She said: “I have three daughters and one son, and Sarah is the youngest and the last to get married.
“I am so proud of her and she looks lovely today.”
Sarah, of Poppyfields, Chester-le-Street, said: “Not many brides can say they were married by their mum. Paul gets on very well with her, so he certainly didn’t mind his mother-in-law marrying him!”
