THE DEATH of a Teesside woman is not being treated as suspicious, police have said.

The body of a 39-year-old woman was found at a home in Hartlepool in the early hours of Friday morning, prompting a police probe.

It is believed the woman, who has not yet been named, lived at the house with her husband and young daughter.

A 55-year-old man was arrested and quizzed in connection with the find.

However, Cleveland Police last night revealed they are not treating the woman’s death as suspicious and the man has now been released without charge.

Acting Detective Chief Inspector John Chapman, of Cleveland CID, said: “After carrying out inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 39-year-old found in the early hours of Friday morning at an address in Collingwood Road, Hartlepool, we are not treating her death as suspicious.

“I’m satisfied with the explanation given to me by the 55-year-old man who was released yesterday without charge.

“An initial post mortem has been carried out but further tests are necessary to determine the cause of death.

“Once all family members have been contacted further details of the woman’s identity will be released.”
