Boundary 500 Motorcycle Group on new charity ride

The 58-year-old said:” When you consider that we only started raising money in 2006 and we’re now about to smash through the quarter of a million mark, its phenomenal.

“It’s something I feel very passionate about. I’ve met a lot of fantastic people who make Boundary 500 what it is. People whose attitude isn’t ‘what’s in it for me?’, but ‘how can I help?’”

As a mark of gratitude to Brian and his fellow riders for their efforts, which now include several fundraising rides a year, each of the charity’s three helicopters carry the Boundary 500 logo.

Brian, who spent 22 years in the road traffic department of Cleveland Police, 10 of those in charge of the motorcycle unit, said: “In 2010, another event will be added called the European Coastal Challenge, which will see riders covering a distance through Europe of approximately 7,500 miles.

“We’re going from strength-to- strength all the time. I’m busier now than I was when I was working, but it’s all worth it.”
