Disgraced DJ says sorry to his wife

DISGRACED DJ Mark Thorburn has publicly apologised to his wife after he was sacked by Metro Radio following allegations he had two secret message sessions with listeners – one of which it is claimed led to an affair.

Mark Thorburn

Last week the Sunday Sun told how Thorburn used chat-up line techniques to score with a woman who contacted his radio show. . . just weeks before he used similar lines on another woman who emailed him while he was on air.

A woman contacted the Sunday Sun to claim dad-of-three Thorburn exchanged steamy messages with her, while he was broadcasting his lunchtime hits show into North East homes.

The 28-year-old, of Northumberland, said Thorburn begged to let him visit her at home within three hours of making contact, then started a passionate affair with her.

And six days after that fling ended, the 41-year-old is said to have sent suggestive emails to a listener who asked him to play a record.

Thorburn was suspended two weeks ago after bosses learned of the emails.

And as it emerged the station has pulled the plug on his job, the married disc jockey issued a humble statement.

He said: “My actions have betrayed the love and trust given so generously to me by my wife. Throughout all of this she has been able to maintain incredible dignity and to support our family.
