A BT customer on Tyneside claims a heated row with a call centre worker ended in chilling threats to bomb his house.
When Alan Wardle’s internet connection crashed, he called a helpline to get the problem fixed.
But after the BT technical worker failed to solve the glitch a row broke out, resulting in alleged death threats.
Alan had signed up for the BT Broadband service days before the incident and was frustrated at being unable to send e-mails.
Northumbria Police and the telecom giant have now launched a joint security investigation into the alleged malicious call.
Alan, from Wallsend, North Tyneside, admits he lost his temper when his web connection was not restored.
The 24-year-old says he knows the sinister messages came from a BT worker because the hotline number flashed up on his phone.
Alan, a former supermarket worker, said: “I couldn’t believe what I heard, I was incensed.
“Literally a minute after I’d put the phone down I was called back and a man said ‘I will blow your house up’, ‘I will hurt you’.
“I was scared at first then really angry. I called the police straight away.
