Ronan left numb by Stephen Gately's death

Ronan spoke of his devastation in an emotional interview on TFM Radio’s breakfast show Wake Up With Wayne.

In the chat, to be broadcast later this week, he also talks with presenter Wayne Allen about The X Factor and life at home with his wife, model Yvonne Connolly, and their three children Jack, 10, Marie, eight, and four-year-old Ali.

Despite being with X-Factor judge Louis Walsh when he put Irish lads John and Edward through, Ronan Keating denies any involvement in helping the boys through to the live finals.

He’s loved watching the “Jedward” every weekend, but says they definitely won’t be supporting Boyzone any time soon.

Ronan said: “They are Dublin lads and I wish them the best but it’s a talent show at the end of the day.

“It’s been incredible television and they have been very entertaining and they are lovely lads but they don’t have the X-Factor.”

Earlier this week Ronan said he would love to return to The X-Factor because it would be a fitting tribute to Stephen.

Asked about the possibility of guesting on the show, he said: “ If it’s done right, we’d absolutely love to do it.”

The dad-of-three also readily admits that the women in his life definitely wear the trousers at home.

When asked if women are the bosses in relationships, he said: “Totally. Any lad who says he’s the boss is an idiot, a liar - they like to think they are.

He added: “I tell you who’s the boss in my house - my four-year-old.”
