A MUM was horrified to find maggots wriggling in a tub of yoghurt she was about to feed to her baby son.
Stunned Vicky Robson opened a Heinz Fruity Custard yoghurt to find it black with mould and covered in the live bugs.
She had been moments away from feeding it to seven-month-old son Harry.
“I almost vomited when I saw them,” said Vicky, 30 of South Beach, Blyth, Northumberland. “I was shocked and disgusted.
“It was covered with maggots, I could see them wriggling around and they were spilling out of the pot onto the bench in my kitchen.”
Vicky and husband Paul, 34, had bought three packs of the banana and custard flavour desserts, which are designed for babies, from Tesco in Kingston Park, Newcastle.
All were within their sell-by date of September 16, 2010. But one pack was covered in the maggots.
“I just thank God Harry didn’t eat one,” said Vicky, who is on maternity leave from her job as a development manager for sandwich chain Subway.
“These yoghurts are marketed to young children. I’d hate to think this could be something contaminating a whole batch.
