HE’S well known for his caustic remarks and outspoken manner.
But, for once, Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson was on the receiving end of criticism, when he opened a special motor-themed exhibition at a top North gallery.
Middlesbrough’s art gallery mima is playing host to the week-long event, featuring automative art including everything from drawings, designs and water colours, to car parts, helmets and whole cars.
And Clarkson and fellow presenters Richard Hammond and James May have even produced masterpieces of their own which are showing in the art gallery.
The producers with the BBC2 show would not allow anyone to photograph the artworks . . . but we’re told they’re unlikely to be Turner Prize material.
Yesterday, as hundreds of fans attended the opening day, Clarkson himself seemed proud of his creative achievements.
He said: “Wait until you see it – it’s better than any vase you’ve ever seen.”
But schoolboy Joel Murphy, 15, of Billingham, wasn’t so impressed.
He said: “I am hoping the presenters are having a laugh with their pieces.
