Miracle baby Ted Parks who's heart has stopped three times

A DAY at a time heart-transplant baby Ted Parks takes tiny steps towards recovery.

The tough youngster, nicknamed Super Ted after battling back from a stopped heart three times, received his life-saving transplant last week.

His stunned parents said they couldn’t want anything more for Christmas.

Now medics have revealed their hope that the six-month-old tot could be back home by the middle of next month.

Ted took another crucial step towards recovery when he was successfully taken off his ventilator on Friday.

His loved-ones and medics are tentatively looking to the future.

Consultant paediatric cardiologist Dr Richard Kirk has overseen Ted’s care since he was transferred to Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital.

He said: “There is some hope he could be down on a children’s cardiac ward within a week or two.

“Then if he continues to progress well there is a chance he could be able to go home in mid-January.”

Excited at the prospect of taking their baby home for the first time in months mum, Kay Husband, and dad, Stephen Parks, say they are taking each day at a time.

Kay, 34, of Normanby, Middlesbrough, said: “Before it was just taking each as it came and hoping for a heart, but now it’s here. The past couple of days have gone in a flash – it’s totally, totally surreal.
