Carol Malia prepares for special Christmas

TELLY star Carol Malia has told how she’s happily settling into her new job . . . as a doting mum.

The BBC Look North presenter says she and husband Gary Hudson are gearing up for their best Christmas ever with little Anna, who has just turned six months.

The couple have festooned every room of their County Durham home with festive decorations and flashing lights, and this week they’ll welcome both sets of grandparents for a traditional family Christmas.

It was back in February that Carol revealed in the Sunday Sun how she was expecting a baby, and Anna was welcomed into the world on June 11. Six months on, Carol and Anna are bonding beautifully.

The new mum said: “She’s fantastic. It’s been a learning curve.

“Once babies get to this age they are very smiley and entertaining and quickly outgrow their early baby stages.

“But she’s still Gary in a nappy. She looks very like Gary and has his eyes, nose . . . his general body shape really.

“Gary can sleep for England and she’s really taken after him there, too. She can sleep for 10 hours a night and has four daily naps as well, so we feel very lucky.

“I’m socialising with the mums, too. We’re a real mixed bag but – and I know this sounds cheesy – we all have the common bond of babies.

“We’ve been to baby massage and swimming, and we’re thinking about going to water babies classes, too.”

This week will be a very busy one in the Malia-Hudson household as Carol gets ready to cook Christmas dinner, while the grandparents take on starter and pudding duties.
