GEORDIE star Michelle Heaton is already having a happy new year . . . she’s got engaged!
Her partner Hugh Hanley got down on one knee over the festive period to propose to the delighted singer.
The former Liberty X star told pals of her plans to marry boyfriend Hugh on her Facebook page last week.
And she even hinted the news to her followers on the micro-blogging site Twitter, with the cryptic message: “He liked it, so he put a ring on it.”, which is also a lyric from the Beyonce song Single Ladies.
Michelle, 30, told her Facebook friends: “Thank you so much for all the great words guys, really appreciate it. I obviously couldn’t be happier, he’s my angel. Here’s to a great 2010!!”
The Gateshead-born former songstress and magazine columnist, who starred in last year’s Celebrity Big Brother, started dating
Hanley in the summer of 2008, after she split from her first husband Andy Scott-Lee.
In December of that year, she described Hanley as her “soulmate” and said she would like to have children with him.
The couple’s engagement comes a year after she first told how she would love to marry Hugh . . . yet she was still legally hitched to Andy Scott-Lee, a former boy band member in 3SL.
She told a magazine: “If it were up to me, we’d get married and have babies tomorrow. But I’m still married so I can’t.”
