Amazing response to Sunday Sun Air Angels campaign

WE’RE a quarter of the way there!

Thanks to your superb generosity the Sunday Sun Air Angels appeal has pulled in a staggering £250,000 in just 12 weeks.

It’s been a splendid effort so far, and it’s families and businesses in the North who can take the all the credit. To date you’ve collected coins, dressed as witches, played rugby in the snow, decorated Christmas trees, gunged teachers – you name it and North fundraisers have given it a go in the name of our campaign.

Now we need to keep up that effort. Our aim is simple: we want to help the North buy its own Air Ambulance. Fundraising manager at the Great North Air Ambulance Mandy Drake said: “We are all delighted to have reached this significant milestone in our fundraising.

“The fact we have come this far is proof we can reach our target, no matter how ambitious £1m might seem.

“Please, please keep doing all you can for the Air Angels fund. Remember our charity receives absolutely no Government funding. We rely totally on public donations.

“Please keep fundraising, please keep donating and hopefully, sometime soon, we will be celebrating the arrival of our new helicopter.”

Until now the Great North Air Ambulance has leased its choppers. By buying its own helicopter the charity will be able to protect its future for years to come.
