Pervert stages a theatre comeback

A BACKSTAGE pervert caught trying to film child actors is now working delivering equipment to local theatres.

Kevin Todd

Kevin Todd was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for filming children changing backstage at The Journal’s Tyne Theatre in Newcastle but continues to run a business hiring out and delivering equipment to theatre companies.

Now he has admitted showing up at the Whitley Bay Playhouse, which was hosting a performance of Sleeping Beauty, despite having a three-year supervision requirement keeping him away from children.

Todd, of Heaton, Newcastle, even referred to his theatre work on the social networking site Facebook.

Earlier this month a concerned member of the audience at Whitley Bay Pantomime Society’s Sleeping Beauty spotted Todd outside the theatre at the end of the performance.

He is on a three-year supervision requirement issued by Newcastle Crown Court relating to 15 counts of pseudo-indecent photographs of children, and has a community order to run concurrently for charges of voyeurism, which he admitted. This sentencing dates back to his time as a sound engineer during a local stage school show in 2007, when he left a concealed camera recording children undressing between scenes.

He was rumbled when a changing assistant spotted the camera and confronted him, then alerted police.
