COULD North pop princess Cheryl Cole become less popular than a mere sausage roll?
That’s the question being asked by internet mischief makers on social networking website Facebook.
A campaign has been launched to try to out-do Cheryl Cole’s fan club on the site by finding even more fans for a single example of the pork and pastry snack.
And the group has already attracted more than 695,500 members, with the goal being to eclipse X Factor judge and singer Cheryl’s 1,500,000 fans.
Cheeky fans have uploaded prank photographs onto the site, showing the Newcastle-born Girls Aloud star pictured in a variety of poses with sausage rolls.
The unnamed founders of the group, rumoured to be a pair of 11-year-old schoolboys, also make regular announcements on the campaign’s progress after more than 100,000 fans joined in under two days.
One post reads: “Cheryl Cole, feel the wrath of the mighty sausage roll.
“Just think, this sausage roll could become more famous than Cheryl Cole. Won’t that be a sight to see.”
Another says: “A little tongue twister for you to go and try. See how fast you can repeatedly say ‘sausage roll, Cheryl Cole’.”
