A TRIO of yummy mummies from the North are to star in a drive to inspire more young women to breastfeed their babies.
Nikki Carr, 22, Kim Swales, 23, and Rachel Lawson, 19, have been chosen as poster girls for Be a Star, a campaign that aims to showcase the beauty, confidence and pride that can be achieved with breastfeeding.
Nikki and Kim, from Scarborough, and Rachel from York, North Yorkshire, were both given stunning makeovers to transform them into models before they were snapped breastfeeding their tots.
The final photos are aimed to show that breastfeeding doesn’t have to be as revealing as people think.
Nikki, who gave birth to son Alfie at Scarborough Hospital, said: “I think it’s great that young mums are being encouraged to breastfeed their babies as I think a lot of people my age either aren’t aware of the benefits or are too embarrassed or scared to try it.
“Glamorising breastfeeding will catch the attention of young mums and hopefully give more young women the confidence to give it a go.”
Fellow star Kim, mother of seven month-old Molly, added: “I’d be lying if I said I’d never had any funny looks for breastfeeding in public, and that’s the main reason I wanted to get involved in this campaign.
