THE FATHER of missing chef Claudia Lawrence says he desperately needs to find out what happened to her, as he spent her 36th birthday without his beloved daughter.
Yesterday was Miss Lawrence’s 36th birthday yet, instead of enjoying family celebrations, her dad Peter was leading a national awareness campaign for her, almost a year after she vanished.
The campaign was launched in central York last Friday where Peter lit a candle on a huge birthday cake and launched balloons with the “Find Claudia” message attached.
Speaking at the event, which took place in pouring rain, Mr Lawrence said: “Her birthday is tomorrow. She’s been missing for 11-and-a-half months and we need a resolution.
“The idea was to do all these things here today to keep people aware of this.”
Mr Lawrence said he had happy memories of his daughter’s birthdays in the past.
“We’ve had 35 years of Claudia being with us on her birthday. Unfortunately, this time she isn’t,” he said.
Mr Lawrence added: “Someone out there does know what’s happened and we need to know.”
Among the other people at the event were the Lord Mayor of York, Councillor John Galvin, and Miss Lawrence’s close friends Suzy Cooper and Jen King.
