It is not known whether the passports were forgeries or identities of real people that had been stolen.

People living in the quiet village were stunned to find links between their community and an international murder plot.

One neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: “I cannot believe Greenside has anything to do with this. It’s very shocking.

“I have heard them talking about it on the television but didn’t pay much attention as it happened hundreds of miles away.

At least 12 British identities are suspected of being cloned to carry out the assassination.

Other names used on the passports are; Daniel Marc Schnur, 32, Stephen Keith Drake, 54, Mark Daniel Sklar, 30, and Philip Carr, 35. Three Irish passport holders, three Australians and three French were also on the list.

British security agents arrived in Israel yesterday to interview Israelis with duel nationalities whose identities were allegedly used by the assassins in the plot.

Mahmoud al- Mabhouh, 50, was found electrocuted and suffocated in a Dubai hotel room last month.
