Killer Tony Blades has facebook page account removed

Tony Blades' page on Facebook

FACEBOOK has removed the account of a killer serving time in jail for stabbing a former soldier to death.

The move follows revelations by the Sunday Sun that Tony Blades appeared to be updating his Facebook profile from Castington HMP, where he is serving 12 years for killing Anthony Blakelock last May.

We enlisted the help of veteran MP Sir Alan Beith and former senior police officer Lord Mckenzie, who both raised the issue with the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and demanded action.

When quizzed by prison officers Blades pointed the finger at his MUM, saying she was updating the account for him.

Anthony’s father Phil Blakelock said: “I am over the moon that his account has been taken down.

“If it hadn’t been for pressure from the Sunday Sun this would never have happened.

“Facebook should have taken it down straight away. They said they only did this because the page broke their terms of agreement, but Blades is a killer and as a prisoner . . . he shouldn’t have any rights.

“He took my son’s life. Why should he be allowed to contact his friends through Facebook when he is in jail?

It’s thought Blades’ Facebook site was updated via a mobile phone, sparking concerns that they are somehow being smuggled into jails.
