Writing on her official Twitter page, Heather revealed two leading charities are also helping.
Age Concern’s 26 regional shops and Help the Aged’s nine North charity shops are also ready to take in donations.
She said: “Still putting it all together, priority is Haiti, Age Concern and Help the Aged shops are now drop-off points for wheelchairs, limbs, crutches and medical equipment, they have merged and have been amazing, Scan Logistics are shipping out to Haiti for us.”
Last week, Heather also hosted a charity film screening in London, to raise finds for the Haiti Limb appeal.
Directed by Asgar Leith, Ghosts of Cite Soleil is a documentary centring on gang warfare in the Haitian city.
It was shot back in 2006, when the UN described it as one of the most dangerous places on earth and rife with gang warfare. Heather hoped that the screening would raise awareness of the country’s long-running problems.
She said: “Haiti has been struggling a long time before the media glare recently.”
