Emily started to ski on holiday with parents Ernest and Janet, and elder sister Victoria in resorts in Austria and Italy as a child.
She said: “My sister is an excellent skier but I always wanted to do better than her, it comes from being a younger sister.
“It is unusual for skiers to come from County Durham – British skiers tend to come from either the Scottish highlands or have very rich parents who can take them abroad to ski at the drop of a hat.”
Emily spends winters in the French ski resort of Meribel, and summers working with children in the Sedgefield area of County Durham as part of a Sport in Education project.
“I am hoping to go to Argentina to train soon, but I do tend to spend summer on gym work and winter on the slopes.”
She added: “Skiing is not a high profile sport in Britain, but I am hopeful that my association with Lifeboat Tea will raise my profile.”
Lifeboat Tea is inviting people to follow Emily and share their own Extreme Tea photos via the Lifeboat Tea website (www.lifeboattea.co.uk/extreme), Facebook and Twitter. Emily will also be giving updates through her personal website (www.emilysarsfield.com). Lifeboat Tea is available from leading supermarkets and in RNLI shops.
