Friends pay tribute to tragic Cramlington pals

Christopher Harrington

FAMILY and friends will gather this week for the funeral of a young man who was found dead in Northumberland.

Christopher Harrington, 20, and 19-year-old Kieran Kenny were found hanging in a wooded area close to the Brockwell Centre in Cramlington last Tuesday.

As a coroner opened and adjourned an inquest into the suspected suicide pact, it emerged that mourners will lay Christopher to rest on Tuesday.

A Facebook group ‘RIP Kieran Kenny & Chris Harrington’ now has 262 members, many of whom have pledged to attend the funeral, which will take place at Blyth Crematorium.

Last night, as details of the funeral were put on the social networking site’s group, one friend said: “I’ll be there to say bye to the young man.

“Only knew him for a couple of years but got on really well. Great lad and a real shame what happened. RIP mate. x.”

Another said: “I’ll be there mate wouldn’t miss it for the world. missing you loads xx.”

Meanwhile, police say they are still investigating their deaths although they don’t believe a third party was involved in the tragedy.

The close friends’ deaths have sent shockwaves through the community, with many pals struggling to comprehend their loss.

Both of the young men, who were confirmed dead at the scene on Tuesday morning, were identified by their devastated fathers.
