TOON star Kevin Nolan has hailed his wife as the “real hero” after teammate and lodger Andy Carroll’s car was torched at his home.
The striker was staying at his captain’s house as part of bail conditions ahead of a January court appearance when his new Range Rover was set ablaze – with Nolan’s wife Hayley and their two children just yards away inside the house.
Police are now hunting arsonists who set alight the Gatehead-born striker’s chrome- plated car – a luxury purchase made to celebrate his new five-year contract – as well as covering it with abusive graffiti.
In an interview with BBC’s Football Focus the Toon skipper blasted the arsonists, and paid tribute to his family following the attack.
He said: “With what happened outside my house with my kids and my wife in the house - that is out of hand.
“But I don’t want to give them time on the telly because every man looking at it knows that’s wrong no matter what’s happened before or after, they know.”
