Geordie Brookside actress' shock over arrest

BROOKSIDE star Annie Miles last night told of her shock after her on-screen hubby was charged with a gangland-style murder.

One-time soap favourite Brian Regan, who played North actress Annie’s loveable Scouse loser husband Terry Sullivan, is accused of shooting dead a club doorman.

Regan and Annie, who played his on-screen wife Sue, became one of TV’s best-loved couples when they tied the knot in the hit Channel 4 show.

But Regan is currently behind bars in his native Liverpool accused of the murder of Bahman Faraji, 44, and Annie, who was born and raised in Tynemouth in North Tyneside, told of her horror.

“I am shocked,” said Annie, 50. “He was a lovely, sweet man when I worked with him and I am deeply shocked. I can’t believe it.

“He played a scally in Brookside but he was a loveable scally. I read about it in a national newspaper when he was first arrested and questioned, but now he has been charged with murder.”

Unshaven and handcuffed Regan, 53, appeared before Liverpool Magistrates Court on Wednesday to face charges of murder and perverting the course of justice.

He appeared alongside Lee Dodson, 42, who is also charged with the murder.

Both were remanded in custody until tomorrow, when they will face a preliminary hearing at Liverpool Crown Court.

A third accused, Edward Heffey, 40, who was charged earlier this month, will also appear with them, all three are from Liverpool.
