AS birthday celebrations go, Kirsty Snowball will remember her 18th for a very long time.
It’s not every day that your favourite boyband delivers a special, soulful rendition of “Happy Birthday” to you . . . but that’s just what JLS did yesterday, during a special trip to Newcastle College.
More than 200 fans packed into The Venue to ask the boys about their forthcoming tour and new film, but Kirsty, of Washington, Tyne and Wear, cheekily asked for a personal song instead – and they were more than happy to oblige.
“I was speechless . . .and I very nearly cried,” said the Dance City dance student.
“This has been the best birthday present ever. Coming here was a complete surprise planned by my sister.
The X Factor favourites – Aston Merrygold, Marvin Humes, JB Gill and Oritse Williams – caught an early morning train from London to Newcastle yesterday to meet with Kirsty and 200 other lucky fans in advance of their performance at Metro Radio Live this July.
And after deafening them with squeals and screams when they first arrived, the audience hung onto the band’s every word as they led a candid question and answer session.
Their visit came a day after the launch of their new film Eyes Wide Open, a documentary-style 3D movie centring on their recent O2 Arena concerts while giving a glimpse of life for the lads behind the scenes.
