Mr North East hopes to land Mr England title

Nathaniel Smith, who is in the final of Mr England, after being crowned Mr North East

HUNKY Nathaniel Smith hopes he’ll celebrate his birthday in style this week . . . by being crowned Mr England.

The call centre worker, of South Shields, South Tyneside, saw off competition from hundreds of buff blokes earlier this year to be crowned Mr North East.

And now he’s made it into the final dazzling dozen hoping to win the Mr England trophy on Tuesday night.

Nathaniel, who turns 26 on Wednesday, has been enjoying the extra attention he’s been getting since winning the regional heats, and he’s looking forward to putting the North on the map as the victor on the night.

He said: “Since winning Mr North East life has been a lot more interesting and fun through meeting new people like the other Mr England contestants.

“I’m not in a relationship anymore unfortunately but that’s life . . . but I have been getting a bit more attention from girls since winning.

“Within three days of being crowned Mr North East I had about 150 ‘friend requests’ on Facebook!”

The contracts executive for Orange, who used to live in Middlesbrough and Gateshead, will journey to Birmingham’s Hilton Metropole Hotel for a glitzy final where he and the 11 other finalists will have to impress judges in four rounds.
