Couple reveal their baby joy

Heather Findley and partner Gary Sayle

A COUPLE who lost their first child despite the youngster receiving a heart transplant have revealed their joy at the birth of their baby girl.

Heather Findley and partner Gary Sayle were left devastated when their 15–month- old daughter Lydia Rose died last December, just months after her emergency swap op.

But on Tuesday their heartache turned to joy when their healthy baby girl, Sophia Sayle, was born at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary weighing 6lb 5oz.

Mum Heather, 24, of Egremont, Cumbria, said: “We are so happy at the birth of Sophia - she’s gorgeous.

“We did not know if we were having a boy or a girl but we’re delighted to have had a girl.

“Sophia has a look of Lydia about her when she was a baby and we know that Lydia would have been really excited to have had a sister.

“We will tell Sophia all about her big sister when she’s older as Lydia is very much missed by us all.
