Soldiers abseil in for Salute Our Heroes concert

Salute Our Heroes concert

SOLDIERS will abseil from the ceiling of a Gateshead landmark next weekend.

But it’s not a raid - it’s all part of the Salute Our Heroes concert, the annual fundraising show for the Army Benevolent Fund, The Soldier’s Charity.

The charity aids serving, injured and retired servicemen and women and their families across the North East.

Now in its fourth year, the variety show at the Sage honours heroes past and present with a line up including everything from Irish dance to big bands and choirs.

And it even promises to wow the crowds with soldiers abseiling from the ceilings of the Sage’s impressive Hall One.

“The Soldiers’ Charity is delighted to be back at the Sage Gateshead for Salute our Heroes,” said Major Eric Ingram MBE, chairman of the ABF for the North East.

“This years concert has a new format and some new acts that delight the audience.

“The public in the North East has supported soldiers and their families through a decade of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Salute our Heroes is a fundraising event but it is also an opportunity for The Soldiers’ Charity to say thank you to the public for being so loyal and supportive.”
