GORGEOUS Melika Kaffash is on her way to London after clinching a beauty crown.
She has been named Sunderland UberGirl and is now heading to the capital for the national title.
“I’m so happy,” said Melika, who was born in Iran but grew up in Ashbrooke, Sunderland.
“I am now in the process of getting ready for the national final competitions which will be held in London next month.
“I’m hoping it could be a big opportunity for me and I am really excited about it. I would love to be a professional model and to run my own modelling agency in the future.
“It’d be great to be an inspiration to other young girls in the North - especially those who have moved to this country from abroad and might not have much self-confidence.”
Unlike many beauty pageants where contestants wear evening ball gowns, the UberGirl contest sees finalists wearing high street labels, designed to reflect the clothing that the everyday girl wears.
Melika, who is sponsored by Gidi Affair Nights, also has to raise as much cash as she can for chosen charity Rainbow Child.
That shouldn’t pose a problem for the brainy student, who studies business management at Newcastle College while working part time as a waitress at Taste of Persia.
Though she has already beaten plenty of hopefuls to get to the final, there are still dozens of other beauties between her and the crown.
