Victims call for probe

Victims of a twisted preacher are calling for a new investigation to establish if former colleagues at a young offender institution knew what was happening.

Ex-prison officer Neville Husband, who went on to become a minister, is behind bars for abusing inmates at Medomsley Detention Centre at Consett, County Durham.

The victims want to know if any of Husband's work colleagues knew of his activities in the 1970s and 1980s but failed to act.

The Home Office say it would not be cost-effective to trace staff at the centre which has been closed for more than 30 years.

But Kevin Young, who has set up a support group for sex abuse victims, said: "It can't be that hard."
